It is not Just the Media that Hold Fantasia in High Esteem

Almost the entire industry feel and thinks that way! When a contestant's performances cause experts to react this way, that contestant must be doing something right! Give the contestant full credit for capturing this kind of expert emotional appeal. It is time we all stop this idiotic, irrational whining and accentuate the positive.

Fantasia is one of the most amazing entertainers that I have ever seen on any stage in the past twenty-five years. And the way it is, is the way it will be and there is nothing you can do to stop this tidal wave.

If I had the opportunity, I would promote her for free. For what the world needs is love and happiness and that is what she brings to bear.

Response to Contention that Fantasia did not Win By Much

I disagree; it is not just the media that favor Fantasia. Her fan base is diverse, including the majority of experts in the music and related industries. It is ironic that one would voice this kind of opinion. Few weeks ago, some were saying that Fantasia's supporters were mainly poor black Americans. And that's not true at all. I do not know the method that you use to come to the conclusion that the majority of Americans do not favor Fantasia but it is most likely not the scientific method. Because, if one should take a scientific poll, one would find that the majority of Americans do back Fantasia in the finals.

And I'm not referring to polls that ask voters to phone in or Internet polls for that matter. These polls are seldom, if at anytime accurate. It does not matter if the sample size is 500 or 500,000; these kinds of polls are for entrainment value and not genuine educational or information value. So if this was the method that you used to reach your conclusion then your conclusion could be inaccurate.

PS. Bear in mind that the American Idol voting method is also not scientific. Therefore the winner of the competition may not necessary reflects true public opinion. Or if that individual should win, the real scientific result may not be as close as AI data would indicate or maybe closer

Remark:

"Fantasia's voice is incrediblly annoying"

"I really dont get all the raving about Fantasia from both the judges and the media."

Response:

If that's the case, then you must be terribly wired on negative emotions.

It is not just the judges and media that are raving about Fantasia. Her admirers hail from almost every facets of society: industry analysts, producers, managers, artists, and musicians. Admirers are from big business and small business, blue color workers, and white color executives. Students think that she is terrific, teachers too, preachers and congregations.

If you don’t get it, that's fine but why bother with this repeated attempt to convince the inconvincible that they too don’t get it?

"How do you account the for credits that run...saying that the producers have the right to change the vote????????????????"

Response:

If the producers reserve the rights to adjust the voting results, it would be done in the interest of fairness to a candidate who would be grossly and adversely affected by clustering: Someone whose level of performance would be decisively out of balance with his or her level of support. In a valid statistical vote, this would not be the case. With the elimination of clustering, most results would follow a normal distribution.

Remark:

Diana was Sabotaged, the Equipment was Faulty

Response:

Nonsense!

Fantasia also had similar experience but she did not loose her composure. These things happen in real life performances: a musician miss a note, a backup singer sing out of tune or timing is off. This could be a part of a test to see how a performer would cover errors or improvise under such circumstances. Well-rehearsed, polished technical performances are not good enough in a live setting where anything can happen. One must be able to improvise or cover-up his or her mistakes as well as those of others when necessary.

Great performers use these moments to shine. I remember a time when a man (me) was giving a report in at general meeting when a member of the audience rudely interrupted him, demanding explanation of something that was immaterial. But instead of tripping him with the unexpected question this man's unrehearsed automatic, improvised response floored his distracter to the applause and laughter of the entire hall.

Bottom line, when giving a live performance, one should always expect the unexpected and use it to one's advantage and not use these circumstances as alibi for failure (falling apart) or poor performance.

Luckily for Diana, it was her final performance that presented the challenge and not the first, as was the case with Fantasia.

General Response to Fantasia Bashing

You comments are interesting. I do not agree with you but interesting. Fantasia is the best overall performer in this year's American idol competition, particularly: presentation, confidence, originality, voice control, range, poise and animation

On a different note:
All the contestants in the competition deserve our respect and admiration for performing so well under pressure. Your desire to see them hurt, for no other reason other than to bring you selfish pleasure, is an aberration. You probably fit the profile of a person suffering from a SADISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER. If you do not know what this comment implies. Please get some advice from some one in the mental health profession

You don't have to have a background in marketing to create good ads. The majority of the greatest ads ever written were written by people who never been to B. School.
But getting back to Fantasia, she is the kind of person that will be prone to controversy or heated debates and these things sells. The careers of Madonna and Brittey Spears should convince you of this...

You, along with many other Dianna fans are missing the point. Dianna has probably the strongest vocals in this year's AI competition. But like a giant aircraft, solid technical features are not enough. Such instrumentation must be place under control or the aircraft will crash or run out of gas in mid air.

Similarly, Diana has the talent but talent alone is not enough. She is missing the most important ingredient that separates great performers from the average. Something called delivery: the ability to not just sing, act or play the part in a well rehearsed mechanical way but to become the part; in other words the ability to deliver with:
  1. Salesperson-ship
  2. Sincerity
  3. Earnestness
  4. Wholeheartedness
  5. Enthusiasm
  6. Animation
  7. Feelings
And the ability to do so in a natural, seamless, effortless style

That's call performance attitude. The people who knock Fantasia's attitude perhaps do not understand its meanings from a dramitico perspective. Fantasia is a "master" of delivery. And that's the main difference between the two girls. Fantasia come across as a consummate professional while Diana, at times seems to be just going through the motions, like a writer whose work is full of clichés without originality or a newscaster who just read or report the news rather that telling his or her audience about what happened and with feelings. One would do more good for Diana if one tells her these things so that she can easily improve on them rather that this close-minded sugarcoating that I often witness on this board and elsewhere.

I like Diana's bubbly style but I would also like to see her build on her strengths and refine her acts.
